CNUW is delighted to announce that, in honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and the 10th birthday of our organization, we will be hosting poetry and photography contests as part of our celebration. We ask that participants find inspiration from the following quote by celebrated naturalist, John Muir:
"In every walk with nature one recieves far more than he seeks."
The winning poet and photographer will each recieve a $40 Amazon.com gift card, with the second place runner up recieving a $10 gift card. Additionally, the winning photo and poem will be framed and hung in Toad Hall, CNUW's living museum.
All submitted poetry must be a minimum of fifteen lines (though there is no maximum length), and poets must submit both digital and hard copies of their work. We will accept up to three submissions from each contestant.
Photos can be in color or in black and white, but photographers must submit digital and 5" x 7" hard copies of their work. We will accept up to three submissions from each contestant.
All submissions must be recieved by Thursday, April 15th. Winners will be notified by Tuesday, April 20th, and will be honored at CNUW's Earth Day Celebration on Thursday, April 22nd. If you are interested in entering, please contact me, Emma Olsen, via email: cnuw@sccmail.maricopa.edu. Please include "Earth Day Contest" in your subject line.
Best of luck to all contestants!
Emma
